Biography

From a very young age Ferdi Flamehead was inspired by music. Growing up in the 80’s he quickly found his way with the tape decks and record player of his older brother and had a specific interest in songs with synths and electronic elements preformed by artists like M.A.R.S.S, Paul Hardcastle and Technotronic. At the end of elementary school Ferdi was already playing music at birthday parties of classmates with a simple mixer a CD player and a tape deck.

In the mid 90’s Ferdi started to listen to radio shows that played house music and when he saw how a DJ mixed two records with turntables this inspired him to learn mixing with records. He bought his first record player and started to work on his mixing skills by trying to get a record in sync with a track from CD. Soon he bought a second record player and after a few years he was mixing house music as DJ Flamehead on small local parties and recorded numerous demo tapes and compilation CD’s that he spread among his friends and acquaintances. At one of his first “parent free” holidays with friends Ferdi took his record bag with him to Ibiza just in case and he got the opportunity to play in a few small clubs on Ibiza.

During his study in Enschede Ferdi played at several smaller and bigger student parties, played at the Miracle planet and ATAK but also started to experiment with making his own music in ModPlugTracker combined with a Roland groovebox he bought on E-Bay.

A few years later he moved to Arnhem for a “normal daytime job” to pay the bills but since he still had his passion for the music he started to produce in his spare time with one of his best friends under the Flampad alias and under his own name.

Besides developing his producing skills he also continued to DJ on his SL’s and, with the up come of the digital releases, later on CDJ’s. The last years Ferdi is more determined than ever on his music and has traded his fulltime job for a parttime one in order to put more effort into his own productions and releases to be able to make music on a professional level.
